• Spear In Bible times, spears were important
  fighting weapons. They were used by all ancient
  nations. A spear is a weapon with a long,
  slender shaft (pole or handle), tipped with a
  metal or stone point. It is similar to a javelin
  but larger and heavier. A warrior would either
  throw one at an enemy or thrust it into him.

  Saul, the king in a jealous rage threw a spear at
  him. Saul meant to pin David to the wall, but
  David jumped aside. This may have been the very
  same spear that David stole from Saul later on.
