  • Working individually or in pairs,
  • Working in ability sets or friendship groups

13
The Curriculum
  • The Curriculum is everything that happens in
school. It goes beyond the formal lessons and
includes the extra-curricular dimension. It has a
great deal to do with fostering the right
    atmosphere and ethos.
  • Part of what we do is embodied in the National
Curriculum - English, Maths, Science, Information
    Communication Technology, History, Geography,
Design Technology, Music, PE, Art Design,
    Religious Education and Personal Social
    Development Citizenship.

14
Special Educational Needs
  • Haslucks Green has a team of 7 dedicated to
special need support. This may take place in the
classroom in small groups or on a one to one
basis as appropriate to the needs of the child.
  • Assessment is continuous and outside agency
    support is used as necessary

15
Home/School Liaison
  • The stronger the partnership between home and
school the better it is for the child.
  • Formal parents consultation evenings twice a
    year
  • Written report at the end of the summer term.
  • Each child will take part in an assembly or a
    performance every year
  • Regular letters sent out by Parentmail or Pupil
    Post.
  • Parents Association - everyone is an automatic
member. Every pupil in school benefits from the
    PAs support.
  • Homework the children are issued with a homework
diary to record their homework and reminders

16
Behaviour
  • Children are expected to treat everyone with
courtesy and respect, to be punctual and to
    attend regularly.
  • We see the development of self- control and
    self-discipline as most important.
  • We place great emphasis on celebration and reward
but, when necessary we have a variety of
strategies and sanctions that are used.In all
situations we work with parents to resolve any
    problems the children may have.
  • We have a whole school behaviour policy with the
focus on positive reinforcement of good
behaviour. The policy is clear and is followed
    throughout the school

17
Uniform
  • Boys- Grey trousers, white or grey shirt, dark
socks, red pullover or sweat shirt.
    Girls- Grey pinafore dress or
skirt or grey school trousers, white blouse, red
    pullover, cardigan or sweat shirt.
    Sensible
shoes. Heavy boots, trainers (except for sport)
and shoes with high heels are not considered
appropriate or safe for school use.
  • PE/Games - children are expected to have the
    right kit in school.
  • PLEASE NAME CLOTHING - ESPECIALLY SWEATSHIRTS
    PULLOVERS

18
Additional Information
  • If your child is absent for any reason please
inform school by telephone in the first instance.
A letter should be sent with the child on their
return. Childrens unauthorised absences are now
recorded on their school records which follow
them through their years at school.
  • Holiday in term time. We would ask that you do
not book holidays in term time as this does have
an impact on your childs education. If there is
an unavoidable reason for you taking your child
out of school then you will need to make an
appointment with the head teacher to ask
    permission.
  • Support for School Meals - applications available
    from the school office.
  • Please update the contact sheets if ever you
change any details of contact numbers etc.
  • Beechwood Childcare offer a Before and After
    School Club.

19
Further information
  • We are keen for your child to really enjoy
their time at Haslucks Green and to do so they
must feel safe. To ensure good behaviour we have
a very clear behaviour policy which all the
children get to know and which is the same
    throughout the school.
  • Please do not allow your child -
  • to wear jewellery other than a watch and very
    small studs
  • To dye their hair
  • To wear nail varnish or make-up

20
Finally
  • We want your child to enjoy coming to school and
to begin the road to independence here
  • We work to build self esteem and confidence
  • Children are encouraged to talk and teachers
listen to what they have to say
  • We will expect your child to increasingly take
responsibility for their own actions and
remembering to do things by themselves
  • We look forward to working together in this next
    stage of your childs development
