2Remember the former things, those of long ago I
am God, and there is no other I am God, and
there is none like me. I make known the end
from the beginning, from ancient
times, what is still to come. (Isaiah
469-10, NIV)
3Todays Discussion
What happened to the dinosaurs? What to make of
global warming? How do these issues relate to
the soon return of Jesus?
4If the plain sense makes sense, don't look for
any other sense, or you will end up with
nonsense!
Why is this a good policy for Bible
interpretation?
Luke 1817 "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever
does not receive the kingdom of God as a little
child will by no means enter it." (NKJ)
Personal Relationship God intends for us to
understand the main and plain things of Scripture
without needing a learned scholar to tell us what
God said. Prophecy Jesus literally fulfilled
prophecies of the Messiahs advent, so we should
expect His return to be fulfilled literally and
the Genesis account of creation. Nature of God
If God is truly Almighty, He can bring about the
creation as described in Genesis and accurately
preserve that description through time even using
flawed scribes.
52 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where
is the promise of His coming? For since the
fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they
were from the beginning of creation. 5For this
they willfully forget that by the word of God
the heavens were of old, and the earth standing
out of water and in the water, 6by which the
world that then existed perished, being flooded
with water. 7But the heavens and the earth which
are now preserved by the same word, are reserved
for fire until the day of judgment and perdition
of ungodly men. (NKJ)
What trend do we expect to see in the end-times?
Scoffing people will deny Jesus is returning
and ridicule those who are watching for Him to
return.
62 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where
is the promise of His coming? For since the
fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they
were from the beginning of creation. 5For this
they willfully forget that by the word of God
the heavens were of old, and the earth standing

world that then existed perished, being flooded
with water. 7But the heavens and the earth which
are now preserved by the same word, are reserved
for fire until the day of judgment and perdition
of ungodly men. (NKJ)
What does it mean to walk according to their own
lusts?
People will be looking out for number one
(themselves) to the exclusion of anyone else,
especially God. People will make it a common
practice to yield to their natural impulses.
72 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where
is the promise of His coming? For since the
fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they

with water. 7But the heavens and the earth which
are now preserved by the same word, are reserved
for fire until the day of judgment and perdition
of ungodly men. (NKJ)
Who will the end-time scoffers be?
Certainly unbelievers but also professing
believers, those who claimed to be Christians but
proceed to deny the fundamentals of the faith
(apostasy).
82 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where
is the promise of His coming? For since the

are now preserved by the same word, are reserved
for fire until the day of judgment and perdition
of ungodly men. (NKJ)
What is the justification for denying the return
of Jesus?
Verse 4 effectively saying, every generation of
Christians has expected Christ to return in their
lifetime and He has not so why should our
generation be any different?
92 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where

are now preserved by the same word, are reserved
for fire until the day of judgment and perdition
of ungodly men. (NKJ)
What are the end-time scoffers forgetting?
Noahs flood scoffers forget that God brought
judgment on the whole earth once before and He
will do so again.
102 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where
is the promise of His coming? For since the
fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they
were from the beginning of creation. 5For this
they willfully forget that by the word of God
the heavens were of old, and the earth standing

with water. 7But the heavens and the earth which
are now preserved by the same word, are reserved
for fire until the day of judgment and perdition
of ungodly men. (NKJ)
What does willfully forgetting the flood mean?
End-time scoffers are those who know about the
flood but intentionally dismiss it as irrelevant
to our day.
112 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where
is the promise of His coming? For since the
fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they

are now preserved by the same word, are reserved
for fire until the day of judgment and perdition
of ungodly men. (NKJ)
What do people believe about the flood of Noah?
People have rationalized that Noahs flood is a
myth picked up by many ancient cultures that
there probably was a great flood in ancient
history but it was local and not worldwide as the
Bible proclaims.
122 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where

of ungodly men. (NKJ)
What do we know about the world before Noahs
flood?
Water vapor barrier (Genesis 16-8), no rain
(Genesis 24-6), diffused light (Genesis
911-15), people lived 100s of years (Genesis 5)
132 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where
is the promise of His coming? For since the

of ungodly men. (NKJ)
How does forgetting the flood cause scoffing
about the return of Jesus?
Forgetting the supernatural way God brought the
creation into being goes along with ignoring His
Word and not having a relationship with Him.
142 Peter 33-7
3 scoffers will come in the last days, walking
according to their own lusts, 4and saying, Where
is the promise of His coming? For since the
fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they

of ungodly men. (NKJ)
How long will the Lord preserve the world as we
know it?
Until the judgment of ungodly men. All people
will be judged you don't want to be judged at
the Great White Throne which precedes the Lord
renovating heaven and earth by fire (Revelation
2015-211).
15Theistic Evolution
Genesis 131 God saw all that he had made, and
it was very good. And there was evening, and
there was morningthe sixth day. (NIV)
What are the problems with God using an
evolutionary process to create mankind?
Morning and evening do not apply to day-ages
Creation could not be described as very good
with survival of the fittest There was no death
prior to Adam Eves sin
16Global Warming

17Polar ice that has not melted in recorded
history is now crumbling
18(No Transcript)
19Why is global warming controversial?
Some believe global warming is occurring Greenhou
se Effect from increasing CO2
20Is the activity of man to blame for shrinking
polar ice?
21An Alternate Theory
Explains polar ice shrinking and steady average
global temperature
22Second Law of Thermodynamics
In any closed system, a process proceeds in a
direction such that the unavailable energy (the
entropy) increases
23How does entropy effect earth temps?
24The Bible Global Warming
They were seared by the intense heat and they
cursed the name of God, who had control over
these plagues, but they refused to repent and
glorify Him. (Revelation 169, NIV)
How does Rev 169 relate to global warming?
Global warming foreshadows one of the plagues of
the Great Tribulation
we certainly do not want to be among those
who refuse to glorify God
25The Bible Global Warming
There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars.
On the earth, nations will be in anguish and
perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.
Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what
is coming on the world... (Luke 2125-26,
NIV)
How does Luke 21 relate to global warming?
Men are already fainting from fear of bad weather
which is attributed to global warming
this foreshadows the Great Tribulation which
follows the Rapture
26The Bible Global Warming
all the world marveled and followed the
beast (Revelation 133, NKJ)
How does Revelation 133 relate to global warming?
All the world will come together to follow the
Antichrist.
global warming is a global problem that
requires a global government to fix
27The Bible Global Warming
The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the
night, in which the heavens will pass away with a
great noise, and the elements will melt with
fervent heat both the earth and the works that
are in it will be burned up. (2 Peter 310, NKJ)
How does 2 Peter 310 relate to global warming?
Global warming really is going to happen.
but mankind putting CO2 into the atmosphere
is not the cause!
28What happened to the dinosaurs?
29Geologic Timeline Conventional Wisdom
mya million years ago

30Theory Dinosaurs Died from Meteorite Strike
Proof Claim The heavy metal element iridium
(Ir) in the clay boundary layer between the
Cretaceous and Tertiary geologic periods. Iridium
is known to be more abundant in meteorites,
asteroids, and comets than on earth.
What is the problem with this theory?
Problem 1 Why did the alleged impact kill off
the dinosaurs while many other forms of life
remained healthy? Some of the least mobile
creatures (tortoises, snakes, crocodiles) and
also the most sensitive to climatic change
(birds, fish) are still with us today.
Problem 2 The fossil record does not show an
instantaneous demise of the dinosaurs. Some
dinosaurs died out within the Cretaceous period
while others apparently survived well into the
Tertiary period, millions of years later in
evolutionary thinking.
Problem 3 The iridium concentration in the
Cretaceous and Tertiary boundary layer could have
resulted from volcanic processes. Igneous
material includes traces of iridium, especially
when derived from the deep mantle

31What other theories are there for dinosaur
extinction?
32Theory Dinosaurs could not compete with mammals

33Theory Dinosaurs were dumber than mammals
34The Earth Before the Flood
Dinosaurs roamed the earth
People lived hundreds of years
There was no rain
35Job 4015-18
Look now at the behemoth his strength is in
his hips, and his power is in his stomach
muscles. He moves his tail like a cedar the
sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. His bones
are like beams of bronze, his ribs are like bars
of iron. (NKJV)
36What proof do we have that dinosaurs and men
were on earth together?
37People Dinosaurs Walked the Earth Together !
38Proof that dinosaurs men walked the earth at
the same time !
39 In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth. - Genesis 11
What existed before God created the earth?
only God
40 The earth was without form and void and
darkness was on the face of the deep. - Genesis
12
What happened next?
41God made the firmament, and divided the waters
which were under the firmament from the waters
which were above - Genesis 17
What did the firmament do?
42What else did the firmament do?
43What happened to the firmament over time?
44Centrifugal force caused the mass of the vapor
layer to concentrate at the equator
How did the massed firmament begin the flood?
45- The windows of heaven were opened and
- the rain was
- on the earth
- for forty
- days and
- forty
- nights.
- Genesis 711
How did the ozone layer tell us what was next?
46How did this cause the polar ice to form?
47What happened from all the rain?
48- The waters prevailed exceedingly
- on the earth, and all the
- high hills under the whole heaven were covered.
- Genesis 719
Was the flood local or truly world-wide?
49- The earth was dried
- Genesis 814
What evidence do we have that this happened?
50Evidence
Mammoths have been discovered in the artic that
were frozen so quickly that their flesh was
preserved and they still had food in their
mouths. This is clear evidence that the artic ice
was formed quickly as part of a catrostophic
event.
Quick-frozen mammoths
51More Evidence
Tropical vegetation in Antarctic ice
Every explorer in the Antarctic has reported
seeing tropical vegetation deep in the ice
crevasses. This could only happen for quick
forming ice continental shift is a weak
explanation because the vegetation would weather
away.
52How is river silt evidence for a Young Earth?
Accumulation of silt
5,000 years
Average silt deposited/year
53Rock Dating
What is the problem with rock dating?
Assumptions about amount of original radioactive
material
Volcanic lava formed 100 years ago declared to be
millions of years old
54How are Carbon-14 results more reliable than rock
dating?
Amount of original radioactive material is known
(no assumptions)
How old does Carbon-14 say that fossil fuels are?
55Fossils
Why does the very existence of fossils reinforce
the Genesis Flood?
Formation Sediment must cover a living
creature with sufficient mass to form an
impression before it decays. Rare occurrence
Ocean creatures either decay or eaten by
scavengers before fossils can form. Land
creature fossils Evidence of a catastrophic
event Most fossils occur in huge graveyards
Evidence of a catastrophic event Conclusion
Evidence is best explained by Genesis Flood

What is the significance of multiples of 7?
For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the
earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he
rested on the seventh day. (Exodus 2011, NIV)
The number 7 represents completion this is
particularly interesting in light of
Recall the context of 2 Peter 3 !
With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and
a thousand years are like a day. (2 Peter 38,
NIV)
59The Fullness of Time
After two days He will revive us on the third
day He will raise us up, that we may live in His
sight. (Hosea 62, NKJ)
What could this be talking about? (context the
Lord delivering Israel)
Hosea wrote this 725 BC ...given 2 Peter 38
2,000 years 1275 AD
Thus the third day is 1276 to 2276 AD
We are well into the era of the Lords return!
60Hebrew Lunisolar Calendar
2008 5768
In the century following the fall of Jerusalem
(AD 70), certain Jewish scholars took the date
3761/3760 BC and assigned it to Creation
week. According to the best estimates, Creation
occurred over two centuries prior to the
beginning of the lunisolar calendar. The basic
factor upon which the lunisolar calendar is
based, the average length of the lunar month,
would have taken more than two centuries of
measurement and observation to determine.
Based on this, how many years since creation?
So 5768 200 years at least 5968 years since
Creation Conclusion The Lord did not give
us enough information to calculate exactly when
the Creation week happened but the Hebrew
Calendar indicates that we are close to 6000
years of history.
61Importance of Young Earth
If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets,
they will not be convinced even if someone rises
from the dead. (Luke 1631, NIV)
Why is the doctrine of a young earth important?
Moses wrote Genesis if you do not believe the
Bible from the beginning, you will question the
rest of it.
someone did rise from the dead, Jesus, and
people are still not convinced
62Conclusions
1. The earths age?
6,000 years old, not millions
2. What does all of history being 6,000 years
tell us?
The return of Jesus can not be far away
3. What happened to the dinosaurs?
The dinosaurs died out because the world was very
different after the flood
4. What does global warming tell us?
Global warming is a sign of the soon return of
Jesus
5. What will spiritualizing Genesis lead to?
You have to wonder what God really said in the
rest of the Bible
63Question the conventional wisdom !
