• Rapid Industrialization brought many problems.
• Life styles of the working class
• Poverty
• Work conditions, pay, hours, attitudes.
• City life. Living conditions, safety, crowds.

• This become the best seller that changed America.
  Equated to be the Uncle Toms Cabin of reform
  in American city life.
• It brought to the attention of the general public
  and political leaders the truth about what was
  going on in our cities and industries. It
  especially focused on the meat processing and
  food supplies to our citizens.

• Four Goals of a Progressivist(Do you agree with
  them?)
• Govt should be accountable to the citizens.
• Govt should curb the power and influence of the
  wealthy.
• Govt should be given expanded powers so it could
  become more active in improving citizens lives.
• Govt should become more efficient and less
  corrupt.

  in negotiations on behalf of all the workers.
