Around the Buoys
6J World was founded in 1981 to teach sailors how
to get around the racecourse faster.
Sure, we teach everything from beginning sailing
to offshore cruising, but our roots are in
racing.
No other organization in the world even comes
close to the experience of J World!
7We are able to boast about winners in numerous
grand-prix sailing events, from class
championships to international grand-prix
competitions, including such events as
Transpac
SORC/Miami Race Week
The Lipton Cup
Many National World Champs
Port Huron-Mackinac
Big Boat Series
Newport - Ensenada
Key West Race Week (Class winners, and Boat of
the Week)
Yachting Cup
North Sails Race Week
And too many NOODs and J-Fests to count
and thats just our Alumni!
8Our coaches have included more world champions,
Olympic medalists, collegiate All-Americans, and
Americas Cup crews than we can even keep track
of!
Our staff are not only great sailors, they are
great coaches.
They know what it takes to put together a winning
team, and they know how to get the information
across in a positive, constructive, and
challenging manner.
9Learn About Sail Trim
At J World, you will learn how to trim sails for
maximum efficiency through a wide range of
conditions.
Power up for light breeze. Shift gears when the
wind starts to build. Twist off for chop. Go
into point mode off the line. Foot off to get
out of the current, or to the next shift faster.
No problem, after J World.

Passing Marks and Obstructions (Rule 18) Room is
room for an inside boat to round or pass between
an outside boat and a mark or obstruction,
including room to tack or gybe when either is a
normal part of the maneuver
While Tacking Rule 13 After a boat passes head
to wind, she shall keep clear of other boats
until she is on a close hauled course on the new
tack
21At J World, we use the latest generation of
performance boats.
Our fleet of evenly matched boats is rigged with
conventional and asymmetrical spinnakers.
22But it doesnt matter what kind of boat you race
or what position you normally do.
