HISTORY OF MS WORD
Word is a software program designed by Microsoft
corporation ,USA for Word processing
application.First of all Word 97is made by
M.S.USA.Some versions of word eg. Word 6.0 are
also available for DOS and MAC.THE earlier
releases of Word 97 were called Word 7.0 Word
6.0.The next release of word 97 is known as Word
2000.After Word 2000 ,the MICROSOFT CORPORATION
gave a new release Word 2003.The latest release
i.e. Word 2007 have a few additional commands and
features.

WHAT IS WORD PROCESSING
Word processing,in computer terminology,refers to
typing,editing and formatting of any kind of
document,which could be a letter ,balance sheet
or something similar.As the term suggests , word
processing simply process words i.e. textual
information.A word processor does this by simply
formatting the information you or someone else
has keyed into the computer.Here the document is
not printed while it is being keyed in.However
,its image is displayed on the video display
unit(computer screen).The user who is typing the
document can verify the correctness of document
that is displayed on the computer screen.The user
can easily correct mistakes while typing. The
current word processors are very powerful,.You
can create any type of document using the
powerful features of the word processors.

• Adjustable page size and margins.
• Printing selected text in boldface,italic or
  underlined.
• Changing the font and the size of the letters
• Spelling and grammar checking
• Index and table of contents generation
• Facility to create footnotes and endnotes
• Facility to define headers and footers
• Facility to create multiple-column text
