Step Description Time Frame
Inquiry 1 Interest expressed by a family to learn more about the Department of Children and Families Foster Care and Adoption Licensing. Day One
Open House 2 Provides a family with information necessary to consider becoming a licensed resource. (Preliminary Background Check) Within 30 days of Inquiry
Personal Interview (PI) Home Visit 3 A home visit to assess the physical/safety aspects of the home environment, motivation to become licensed, and give the family an opportunity to ask additional questions about the process. Within 60 days of Inquiry
PRIDE Training 4 Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education is a training/group assessment used as part of the assessment for licensure. (5- 10 weeks) Within 90 days of Inquiry
Background Checks 5 Follow Up Home Visits/Interviews Licensing Required Documents Mutual Assessment. During Your PRIDE Training
License Foster Care and Adoption 6 Licensed to provide care to children entering the Departments care. 5-10 Weeks After PRIDE Training You choose 5-10 Weeks of Training
