STRATEGY Make Inferences and Analyze
  • Authors dont always tell us everything in their
    story
  • Readers have to carefully look at the information
    and make inferences.
  • To make inferences, good readers use what you
know and clues in the story to figure out what is
    missing. You are a detective!

5
SKILL Draw Conclusions
  • As good readers, you often use two or more story
details and their own experience to explain
    characters actions, or events.
  • By doing this, you can understand the story
    better.
  • When you do this, you draw conclusions!

6
PREVIEW PREDICT
  • When I say Go, take 1 minute to preview the
    illustrations.
  • Ask yourself
  • Who are the characters?
  • What will they do?
  • On your index card, write 1-2 predictions and
questions about the story. After we listen to
the selection, we will see if your questions were
    answered.
