CUS Policy for Rugby
  • Main sport of the school
  • We strive for excellence, without being obsessive

  • Saturday, training or match, 10.30 to 12.45, Bird

  • Essential Kit
  • Always bring a mouth guard (gum shield) and towel
  • Training in Bird Ave football boots, any
    football jersey, shorts and socks
  • Matches football boots and CUS match gear
  • Training in the Sports Hall runners, shorts and

  • Learn the CUS Rugby Code of Behaviour
  • Coaches assume players have no prior knowledge of
    the game
  • Introduction to the format of the game and to the
    basic skills of the game
  • Train the players in the fundamental movements
    for rugby
  • Training games based on touch rugby initially,
    with contact gradually introduced
  • Matches with other schools commence after three
    weeks
  • Matches with other schools are based on 10-a-side
    blitzes.
  • Matches are touch-rugby format for inexperienced
    players
  • Very basic streaming into strong and weak.
  • Very basic introduction to positional
    responsibilities
  • Very basic introduction to CUS defensive and
    attacking systems

    contact.
  • More intensity in fundamental movement and
    individual skills training
  • Streaming into A, B, C and D teams based on
    ability.
  • Introduction to positional responsibilities in
    the 15 man game.
  • Introduction the CUS defensive and attacking
    systems in 15 man game.
  • League commences for A and B teams.
  • Very basic introduction to Under 14 Playbook.
