Accident Reporting
  • All college related injuries / illnesses
    (student, visitor, and employee) must be reported
    within 24 hours of the incident to the EHS
    Office.

Emergency Call Stations
  • Installed in parking lots.
  • Activate by pressing the button.
  • Call will be placed to 911.
  • Two way speaker to talk with the dispatcher.
  • Blue light will be solid when calling and
    blinking when it is received.

Fire evacuation
  1. Activate fire alarm system.
  2. Call 911.
  3. Notify Information Desk Attendant.
  4. Upon hearing fire alarm, gather belongings and
    evacuate.
  5. DO NOT use elevators.
  6. Report to assigned evacuation staging area.
  7. Nobody may re-enter building until authorized by
    the fire department or college officials.

  • Dry chemical extinguishers are rated for use in
    A, B, and C fires.

Severe weather procedure
  • Tornado warning issued for Waukesha County.
  • Immediately proceed to a designated shelter area.
  • Assist those is need of assistance.
  • Remain in the designated shelter until an
    all-clear is given or further instructions are
    provided.

Medical Emergencies
  1. Check the Scene.
  2. Call 911 to request an ambulance.
  3. Assign an individual to meet the ambulance.
  4. Assign a person to call the Information Desk.
  5. Provide whatever first aid you are qualified to
    give.
  6. Contact Facility Services to disinfect the
    accident scene.

Cost of Medical Assistance
  • It is important to understand that the person for
    whom the rescue unit is called for will be billed
    for that service.
  • The college doesnt pay for this expense.

    activity of your class.

Hazard Communication
  • OSHAs Hazard Communication Standard was
    designated to alert individuals about chemical
    hazards, by providing them with greater access to
    information on the physical and health hazards of
    chemicals, safe handling precautions, and
    emergency and first aid procedures. The standard
    is also known as the Employee Right to Know
    Law.

Lockout / Tagout
  • Only authorized employees are allowed to perform
    lockout / tagout.
  • Never operate or tamper with equipment that has
    been locked or tagged out.

Powered Industrial Vehicles
  • DO NOT operate powered industrial vehicles unless
    you are certified and authorized by WCTC.
  • Students and visitors ARE NOT authorized to
    operate WCTC Powered Industrial Vehicles.

Machine guarding
  • Machine guarding protects individuals from
    numerous dangers.
  • Common guarding methods include enclosure guards,
    interlocking devices, presence sensing devices,
    electronic safety devices, moving barriers and
    two hand trip controls.
  • Never remove or by-pass guarding or operate
    equipment with a missing or damaged guard.

Hazardous Waste Disposal
  • Does your activity/class generate hazardous
    waste?
  • Identify it
  • Contain it
  • Label it
  • Submit waste disposal request to EHS Office
  • Waste Disposal Request Form is on the Portal

Smoking / Tobacco Use
  • Commencing August 1, 2009, tobacco use is
    prohibited at all Waukesha County Technical
    College buildings, grounds, vehicles and parking
    lots.
  • For this program to be successful we need your
    help with enforcement.

  • The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is an
    interdisciplinary alliance that flags and
    services students deemed to be at risk to
    themselves or others socially, mentally and/or
    physically.
