    for 10 of the best interns. SmART offers its
    participants a special network. Additionaly, the
    program offers the opportunity to

What features smART participants? SmART
participants are students of very different
branch of studies, that feature the following
attributes
  • They demonstrate own initiative and motivation
  • They master complex circumstances
  • They are socially competent and fit in rapidly to
    their work environment and other groups
  • They stand up for their own ideas, but also for
    those of their colleagues
  • They have been abroad for a longer time and
    convince through professional qualification as
    well as through engagement besides their studies

  • Which formal requirement do the smART candidates
    have to meet?
  • Maximum age 28 years
  • The candidate has at least three semesters of
    studies in front of him/her
  • The internship at Lufthansa must be completed at
    the time when the proposal by the department is
    being made
  • The candidate has gained first experiences abroad
  • The candidate has already absolved qualified
    internships

How do you qualify for smART?
By convincing through top performance and
personality and being recommended by the
particular head of the department
  • Does the candidate meet all personal and formal
    criteria?
  • Does the candidates performance differ from other
    interns?
  • Did he/she convice you through particular high
    performance(professionally and personally)?

Subsequently, an invitation to the smART
assessment day takes place. Here, not only pure
knowledge is important, but also aptness,
teamwork and self esteem. After a positive
decision there is nothing left in the way of
taking part in the smART program.

Which objectives does Lufthansa pursue with the
smART program?
It is in the interest of Lufthansa to win
promising potential among the interns for
Lufthansa after their studies. From the smART
participants prospective candidates are to be
recruited for the programs ProTeam (trainee) and
GoDirect (direct entry). Therefore the smART
program aims at integrating participants into
the Lufthansa Future Generation (the combination
of all entrance programs). Special events and
career coaching should further develop the
participants professional and personal skills
until the end of their studies.

Lufthansa internship
Contents of an internship at Lufthansa
By absolving an internship at Lufthansa it is
possible to gain hands-on experience, what it
means to actively participate in change processes
and shape a service company for this millenium.
Lufthansa offers the interns a suiting location
according to their individual skills and
preferences Either conceptional internships with
an emphasis in project work or interesting
internships on-the-job, that give the intern a
deep insight into the day-to-day business.
Sometimes even a suitable composition of both.
And this in all of Lufthansas companies in
varying topics like for example marketing,
strategy, human ressources... During the
internship the intern will be demanded to work
independently. However, every intern has a
contact person in the department.

  • Which formal requirement do the interns have to
    meet?
  • At least two months of time will have to be
    scheduled for an internship at Lufthansa.
  • Preffered candidates for an internship are
    students,
  • that are fluent in spoken and written English and
    German
  • That have finished their pre-degree with with
    very good results
  • That can produce interesting practical experience
    like internships, an apprenticeship, stays
    abroad, etc.
  • That show their own initiative instead of waiting
    for orders
  • That are good at working with a personal computer
    (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation
    programs)
  • That are not only able to use the Internet for
    chatting, but as well for work purposes
  • That engage themselves not only in their studies
  • That quickly get aquainted to new assignments
