- There are 1.1 million heart attacks every year
and 480,000 deaths due to coronary heart disease - CPR buys time for these victims until a
defibrillator can be used - The following is to review the steps of CPR
- If you have not had a CPR class in the last 2
years you should sign up to be re-certified! - Follow up with Tina Bobek, R.N. to sign up for
the next CPR update.
3Establish Unresponsiveness
Victim is unconscious and will not respond.
4Call For Help!Have Someone Dial 911 Get AED
5Open the Airway and Check for Breathing
Use head tilt chin lift to open the airway.
6If No Breathing Give 2 Breaths
Give a full Breath enough To make chest Rise.
7Look for Signs of a Pulse
If victim is not Breathing and has No movement,
Assume there is No pulse and begin Chest
compressions.
8Give 30 Compressions
Compress the chest in the middle of the sternum
between the nipples. Compress 1 ½ to 2 Inches.
9Continue with 5 Cycles of 2 Breaths to 30
Compressions
Give 30 Compressions
Give 2 Breaths
10Reassess Victim
If there is still no Breathing or Movement,
continue CPR until help arrives. When AED
arrives, turn ON and follow commands.
