Preamble
  • The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology,
    Zaria ,established in 1964, is an Aviation
    Training Institution charged primarily with the
    responsibility of training Pilots, Air Traffic
    Controllers, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers,
    Aeronautical Telecommunications Engineers and
    several other aviation specialists for the
    Nigerian and International Aviation Industry.

LOCATION
  • The college is situated at the Zaria Aerodrome,
    75km from Kaduna city in Kaduna State which is in
    the North Central part of Nigeria. Zaria is a
    university town which also accommodate several
    educational Institutions.

OBJECTIVES
  • To conduct civil aviation training for use in
    flight training or airport operations
  • To train approved persons in installation,
    maintenance and operation of technical equipment,
    the use of which is calculated or likely to
    increase the margin of operational safety of
    civil aircraft services
  • To train approved personnel on equipment and
    necessary facilities for technical research or
    normal use

  • The college has trained eleven thousand, six
    hundred and sixteen (11,6160) aviation
    professionals from inception to date. The
    analysis is as follows

FOREIGN STUDENTS
  • The College has trained eight hundred and
    fifty (850) foreign students to date. They are
    from Ghana, Niger, Ethiopia, Lebanon, etc.

INSTRUCTORS
  • There are eighty instructors in all the five
    schools.
  • The Instructors are professionally and
    academically qualified with PhD, Masters,
    Bachelor degrees and Post graduate Diploma in
    various aviation fields.
  • The college also engages the services of
    experienced external facilitators in some of its
    programmes.

TRAINAIR PLUS Activities
  • The College is currently an Associate Member of
    the Train Air plus.
  • Two course development teams are currently in
    place. One CD team developed an STP for Tampico
    TB 9 Aircraft Line Inspections.

TRAINAIR PLUS Activities
  • The other CD team developed an STP for Alcatel
    DVOR 432 maintenance. Both STPs already in the
    TRAINAIR sharing pool.
  • Currently Airport Emergency Response course is
    being developed.
  • Course developers have been trained under the new
    methodology.
