Topic Sentence
  • Normally the first sentence of your paragraph!
  • It tells the reader exactly what the paragraph is
    about.
  • Exs Some people feel that beauty is a
    prerequisite for true lovea lover must believe
    that their significant other is the most
    beautiful person on the face of the Earth, but
    Shakespeare shows us this is not true.

Introduction
  • The introduction sentences summarize what is
    happening in the story or stories you are writing
    about.
  • Ex Shakespeare shows us two people with
    different opinions in his poem, Sonnet 130, and
    in Act II, scene i of Romeo and Juliet. In Act
    II, scene i he shows Romeo showering Juliet with
    his affection.

  • Steal some words from the play short story or
    poem that you are analyzing.

    through yonder window breaks? It is the East and
    Juliet is the sun! he is telling the audience
