Title: HALLOWEEN
1HALLOWEEN
2The Halloween comes from a pagan, Celtic ritual
All Hallow's Eve. It appeared in USA in XIX
century, where it's still celebrated very loudly.
On that day in Ireland there were fires lighted
and prayers said.
3Originally it was connected with black magic and
spell casting. The popular symbols of it are
ghosts, witches, black cats, goblins, demons,
zombie, owls etc. The other recognizable sign is
a hollow pumpkin with a candle inside.
4In United States the popular custom is to dress
as a ghost, wampire, witch, demons. On than day
dressed up children visit houses and collect
candies. The equivalent of Halloween in Poland is
Zaduszki holiday
5There are a lot of games related to Halloween.
The most popular are bobbing for apples - fishing
apples from water only with teeth. Other popular
entertainment is to eat fruits and candies hanged
on the strings without using hands. Another kind
of Halloween games is fortune-telling like
foretelling from the saucers. One with scarf on
his eyes picks a saucer and the subject under it
tell the next year's event.
6Halloween symbols are of course everything
what's connected with life after life and horror
so ghosts, zombies, phantoms, wampires, witches,
demons, bones etc. The inherent symbol of
Halloween is also a face-hollowed pumpkin with
candle inside. It's easy to prepare - the top
should be cut with a sharp knife, the inside
hollwed, face shapes cut on the sides and
ready.
