death of T lymphocytes, leading to severe
combined immunodeficiency (SCID) - treat transferred a normal ADA gene

hypercholesterolemia - patients lack the hepatic receptor
that clears low - density lipoprotein (LDL) from
blood . In the absence of the receptor , patient
exhibit extreme hyperlipidemia - treat ex vivo hepatocyte from
patient ,exposure to a virus carring the human
LDL receptor gene. The cells were infused into
patient s portal vein.
