Common 1st year

• First year is shared between Marine Engineering
  and Marine Electro Technology
• Will help define the role of ETO and Engineer
  within engineering team
• Will give a basic understanding of ships systems

Sea Phase

• MNTB Training Record Book Electro Technical
• Additional tasks as required
• A period of supervised training to acheive 9
  months seatime
• PST, PSSR, First aid, Fire fighting, GMDSS GOC
  courses will be completed before sea phase

Graduates

• Degree BEng Marine Electro Technology
• Focused theoretical knowledge of marine
  electrical and electronic systems
• A good practical knowledge of most systems and
  safe work practices

Employment Opportunities

• The college has been approached by the maritime
  industry to run this course
• The cruise ship industry in particular has a high
  demand for well trained ETOs
• No student has completed NMCI without a job.

• Most shipping companies offer a good standard of
  living offering equal time on ship to time off
• Salaries are comparible with professional
  employment, however the majority of seafarers are
  tax exempt.
• Continuous professional development is encouraged
  within the industry.
• Working within the shipping industry offers great
