WELCOME GOLFERS
  • Holy Rosary Catholic Church welcomes golfers and
    friends to the Inaugural Bishop's Cup
    Invitational Golf Tournament
  • Please be prepared to have alot of fun and be
    sure to establish friendships while playing the
    wonderful game of golf!
  • The Inaugural Bishop's Cup trophy will be awarded
    to the winning parish division team and our
    featured prize is a "Hole-n-One/2012 Volvo
    C30-Give-Away." An overall tournament award will
    also be given to the first-place non-parish
    team.
  • This tournament is co-sponsored by the Knights of
    Columbus - The Father Charles G. OLeary Council
    6457 a Richmond, Virginia a Catholic fraternal
    benefit society established in 1882 on the
    founding principles of charity, unity and
    fraternity.
  • The Bishop's Cup Tournament will benefit the
    numerous family and community ministries of Holy

THE COURSE
  • Independence Golf Club is a one of a kind public
    facility offering a Championship 18-hole and a
    9-hole Short Course, an impressive Jeffersonian
    style clubhouse known as the Charles House, the
    Museum of Virginia Golf History, an extensive
    practice area and overnight accommodations such
    as various dormitories and Robins Cottage and
    Swink Lodge.

  • 700 - 815 a.m. - Independence Golf Clubhouse
    Opens (continental breakfast)
  • Registration for players and spectators in the
    Rotunda
  • 830 a.m. - Shotgun Start
  • Team Play (Captain's Choice)
  • 100 p.m. Luncheon and Awards
  • Food and refreshments in a friendly
    socialsetting overlooking the golf course
    areprovided as golfers finish up
    tournamentplay.

MEET THE CHALLENGE
  • The 9th hole will provide golfers with a
    challengeto get their ball within 10 feet of the
    flag stick.
  • A 10 foot diameter circle will be placed around
    the flag stick. If a golfer gets their first ball
    inside the circle he/she doubles any donation()
    challenged.

  • "Meet the Challenge" and "Honorary Chair" Mr.
    Lee Coble was recently elected to serve as the
    34th President of the Virginia State Golf
    Association (VSGA). Mr. Coble leads the VSGA's
    board of directors, professional staff,
    committees and volunteers who serve nearly 80,000
    golfer in Virginia and more that 310 VSGA member
    clubs within the Commonwealth. Lee will be
    stationed at the 9thhole...come and meet him.

BISHOP'S CUP AWARD AND OVERALL WINNING TEAM
  • One Bishop's Cup trophy will be awarded to a
    parish division team
  • One player must be a registered member of a
    Catholic parish in the Diocese of Richmond to be
    eligible to win the Bishop's Cup.
  • The Bishop's Cup will rotate with parish
    affiliated teams and will be displayedat the
    winning parish for the entireyear.
