What does the word Orthographic Mean?

• Ortho 90 Degrees or right angle
• Graphic to draw or a picture
• To draw pictures 90 degrees from each other.

The three common orthographic planes are Top,
Front, and Right Side

Orthographic Projections

• 3 views of an object that are 90 degrees to each
  other
• Usually the Top, Front, and Right Side views are
  used

To get Orthographic projections based on the top,
front, and right side views, we use a special
technique that allows us to see each view
straight on.

Transparent Cube

If you place an object to be drawn inside of a
transparent cube, you can then project the image
of each side directly onto the face of the cube.
