What is Motocross?
  • Motocross is a form of motor-cycle sport or
all-terrian vehicle racing held on enclosed
off-road circuits. Motocross is derived from the
French, and traces its origins to British

  • Motocross began in the early 20s in Britain. The
first motocross races where called scrambles.
Then in the mid to late 1930s motocross came to
the U.S. and then they called it motocross. The
first known motocross race took place at
    Camberley, Surrey in 1924.

The Difference Between Dirt Bikes and Road Bikes
  • The main differences between dirt bikes and road
bikes is that road bikes are faster than most
dirt bikes. They are also a lot heavier than a
dirt bike. Dirt bikes are made for off-road
riding and road bikes are made for on-road
riding. But they make a on-road and off-road
    bike called an enduro bike.

8
Types of Dirt Bikes and Their Differences
  • There are two different types of dirt bikes and
they are 2-stroke and 4-stroke. I dont think
they have much of a difference but most every one
    else does.
  • 2-strokes are easier to maintain and fix than any
4-strokes. 2-strokes cost less to maintain and
    fix.
  • 4-strokes are easier to ride because while on the
track you dont have to keep them wound up the
entire time. You can just lay off the throttle.

When Did Motocross Start in the US?
  • After arriving in North America in the late
1960s, the sport was embraced by enthusiasts and
developed into an American phenomenon. By the
early 1980s riders from the USA were dominating
the sports natural-terrain circuits, and the
    uniquely-American spinoff discipline of
Supercross was packing NFL stadiums nationwide.
