Shell Meshing Example Using Hypermesh
2Introduction
- The aim of this tutorial is to present the
features necessary to generate an adequate crash
mesh - Start HyperMesh using the Optistruct template
- Input the Iges file longit.igs
- Filegtimportgtgeometrygtiges
- Use filter to recognise surface features (
toggle fixed points)
3Step 1 Import Geometry Initial Inspection

6Step 3 Manual Geometry Clean Up General
Quick Geometry Edit (F11)
7Step 3 Manual Geometry Clean Up General
- A point will force the mesh to lock on it, which
can distort the mesh - Removing points give better control
- Use the Point Edit menugt Multipoints gt Delete to
delete all the redundant points on the surface

10Step 4 Auto Mesh Criteria File
- Use AutoMesh (F12) and select the square icon as
mesh type (will generate fewer triangles) - Select QI Optimised, which uses the parameters in
the Criteria file - Compare with Standard Bias what is the
difference in mesh quality? (F10)
