- Hook Grabs readers attention

4Now that we know what an introduction is, lets
move on to body paragraphs...
5Body Paragraphs
- 1. Every body paragraph should begin with a
transition and not just any transition. Good,
strong transitions to make us sound like the
intelligent beings we are. ?
6Body Paragraphs
- Your thesis is so important to your body
paragraph. - 2. Each body paragraph is about each part of your
thesis.
7For Example
- Thesis statement I wish I was a rock star
because they make a lot of money, they get to do
what they love, and they have pretty laid-back
hours. - Body Paragraph 1 _________________________
- Body Paragraph 2 _________________________
- Body Paragraph 3 _________________________
8Body Paragraphs

to come up with your supports for each body
paragraph.

what they love, and they have pretty laid-back
hours. Body Paragraph 1 ________________________

10Once you do this, you can start writing!
- Heres the best way to write a five paragraph
essay
111. Pre-write
- Make an outline like the one we just did together.
122. Write your introduction.
- It usually helps to write your thesis statement
first and then write the hook and clincher.
133. Mark what your body paragraphs are going to be
about.
- One way to do this is to break up your thesis
statement and label body paragraph 1 with the
first point of your thesis, and so on
144. Mark what your support details are going to
be about.
- Youll notice on your graphic organizer that
there are lines written before each piece. This
is where you can write your idea so you dont
have to keep flipping around.
155. Write all of your topic sentences with a
transition word!
- Get them all out of the way. Theyre very easy
to write. All topic sentences should have
transition words! Remember to avoid using
first, second, third.
166. Write your support detail sentences.
- Use your little reminders to help you if you get
confused.
177. Go back and finish your wrap-up sentences.
- These just wrap-up the idea of each paragraph.
They dont need to be anything too fancy.
188. Write your conclusion paragraph!
- Make sure you include a good transition word,
restate your thesis in a new and different way,
and include an added thought!
199. Review your essay.
- Check to make sure everything flows nice and
smooth and that you have transition words in the
right places.
2010. Reward yourself!
- Youre all done! Pat yourself on the back, eat a
cookie, or put a big smile on your face. ?
