  • A preposition is a word that begins a
    prepositional phrase and shows the relationship
    between its object and another word in the
    sentence. A preposition must always have an
    object.
  • A prepositional phrase STARTS with a preposition,
    ends with an object, and may have modifiers
    between the preposition and object of the
    preposition.

  • PREPOSITIONAL PHRASES
  • have two parts they begin with a preposition and
    end with a noun, pronoun, gerund, or clause.
  • Ex
  • Camila, from my class, is terrified.
  • Our science teacher at school, Mr Cárdenas, told
    us that ozone is a kind of gas in the atmosphere.
  • In the meantime, to prevent more damage we should
    ask people to use their cars less.

  • Prepositional phrases function as
  • ADJECTIVES OR AS ADVERBS.
  • AS AN ADJECTIVE the prepositional phrase will
    answer the question Which one?
  • Example
  • Camille, from my class, is terrified. (Which
    Camille?)

  • As an adverb a prepositional phrase will answer
    questions such as How? When? Where?
  • Example
  • ADVERB
