Review Questions
  • What is beekeeping? Explain how statements
(Beekeeping is Applied Bee Biology or Beekeeping
is Anticipation not Reaction or Beekeeping is
    Colony Population Management or finally
Beekeeping is Both Science and Art) might
adequately describe Beekeeping. Show essence of
    beekeeping in graph form.
  • Describe the development of human beekeeping from
    robbing to todays stewardship.
  • Who is L.L. Langstroth? Why do we term him the
    Father of Modern Beekeeping?
  • What are basics of bee culture?
  • Explain the reaction humans might expect from a
be sting. How does an allergic reaction differ
from a normal one? Why do many persons believe
they have a sting allergic when in fact they do
not? What is a toxic reaction? Are several stings
at one time a more serious health concern
compaped to one or a few?
  • List 7 things that might help avoid bee stings?

24
Follow up Exercises
  • Demonstrate the sting response using yourself as
    victim.
  • Have students pick a topic from history and get
information to present as paper or class speech.
NOTE you can have them pick from a list or come
    up with their own topic.
  • View a video such as NJ A bee Movie or Penn
State VHS Why Honey bees? and critique for
content and presentation. Interview one or more
beekeepers asking how they started and why, what
skills do they have that make them beekeeprs and
    how they handle bee stings.
