named Pharaoh Kuku. The Great pyramid was built
in the desert.
3
Where did workers live?
There were evidence of a separate workers' town,
was given a nickname "the Eastern town," complete
with courtyards, chambers, and houses. "It looks
like a normal settlement.
A) How long did it take?
The Great pyramid took about 120 years to
build it only when the Nile flooded too little.
When was the Great Pyramid Built?
The pyramid was built around -2600 to 2480 B.C.

4
Why was the Great Pyramid at Giza built?
It was intended to last an eternity for the
great pharaoh Khufu mummy it was secularly made
to keep away any grave robbers. The pyramid was
built to be a great big monument that people
would remember who built it and who the ruler
was.
What was its Purpose?
The Great Pyramids purpose for being built has
many theories people dont know who built the
Pyramid. Many believe that Pharaoh Cheops (or
Khufu) built the Great Pyramid for his tomb
around 3350 BC, because many of the other
pyramids in the area have been found to be burial
chambers for various kings of Egypt.
5
What materials were used in its constrution?
A total of over 2,300,000 blocks of limestone
and granite were used in its construction with
the average block weighing 2.5 tons and none
weighing less than 2 tons. The large blocks used
in the ceiling of the King's Chamber weigh as
much as 9 tons.
How was The Great Pyramid of Giza built?
It was built by laborers who moved it into
position six and a half million tons of stones
some in blocks as large as nine tonswith nothing
but wood and rope.
Whose big idea was it?
It was the pharaoh Khufu idea because it
was the tomb where he would be buried.
6
Who built it?
Slaves worked and died working as forced labor
for decades to build the Great Pyramid at Giza
for one person.
How many people were involed in its constrution?
100,000 people worked on the pyramid for 3
months of each year
7
What does it look like?

Its 756 feet long on each side, 450 high and is
composed of 2,300,000 blocks of stone, each
averaging 2 1/2 tons in weight. Despite the
makers' limited surveying tools no side is more
than 8 inches different in length than another,
and the whole structure is perfectly oriented to
the points of the compass. All of these together
make it looks like a great big triangle.
8
B) What types of technology or building
techniques were involved?
There were lots of ways in which ancient
Egyptians could lift those enormous limestone's.
They used Copper Chisels. Since gold was the only
other available metal they chose the stronger
copper for their tool-making. They pounded with
granite dolerite rock balls and wooden mallets
into granite to split the bedrock. Copper Saws.
These were used to cut the soft stone blocks.
They also sawed into large wooden posts that were
used to lever the blocks into place. They used
this as a plane to smooth the objects to shape
them to the perfect parts. In that prose Copper
Drills were used.
