HISTORY OF PAKISTAN

• Pakistan officially the ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF
  PAKISTAN is a country in South Asia. It has a
  1,046-kilometre (650 mi) coastline along the
  Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman in the south and
  is bordered by Afghanistan and Iran in the west,
  India in the east and China in the far northeast.
  Tajikistan also lies very close to Pakistan.

The Indus River

• It is one of the major river of Pakistan.,
  c.1,900 mi (3,060 km) long, rising in the Kailas
  range in the Tibetan Himalayas, and flowing W
  across Jammu and Kashmir, India, then SW through
  Pakistan to the Arabian Sea SE of Karachi.
• The Indus begins in the northern slopes of
  Kailash Mountain in China. It enters Pakistan
  from the north of Jammu and Kashmir after
  traveling a north westerly course through Tibet.
  It flows through the region of Ladak, Baltistan
  and Gilgit before reaching Karachi, from where it
  flows into the Arabian Sea. The Indus has many
  tributaries.

Origin of Indus river

• Originating in the Tibetan Plateau of western
  China in the vicinity of Lake Mansarovar , the
  river runs a course through the Ladakh district
  of Jammu and Kashmir and then enters Pakistan via
  the Northern Area (Gilgit-Baltistan), flowing
  through the North in a southerly direction along
  the entire length of Pakistan, to merge into the
  Arabian Sea near the port city of Karachi in
  Sindh. The total length of the river is 3,180
  kilometers (1,976 miles) and it is Pakistan's
  longest river.

• The Indus River dolphin (Platanista minor) is one
  of the world's rarest mammals and the second most
  endangered freshwater river dolphin They have
  very slender jaws with needle-sharp teeth. Their
  fins look like paddles..

  forms the backbone of agriculture and food
  production in Pakistan.

• The Indus skirts and passes by the famous Attock,
  Bannu, Faisalabad, Multan, Khairpur, Sukkur,
  Larkana, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad  and
  finally embracing the Arabian Sea near the port
  city of Karachi (above).

  2500 to about 1500 in the valley of the Indus
  River and its tributaries,in the northwestern
  portion of the Indian subcontinent, i.e.,
  present-day Pakistan.
