Definition of nebulizer

• is a device used to administer medication to
  people in the form of a moist inhaled into the
  lungs.

Purposes

1. Relieve bronchospasm and dyspnea.
2. Dissolve secretion on the chest.

Equipments

• Age- appropriate earosal delivery device that
  include
• Generator .
• Power source .
• Interface ( mouthpieces , face mask )
• Disposable gloves and protective mask.
• Flow meter if oxygen order.
• Ordered medication and prescribed isotonic
  diluents.

The Procedure

1. Wash hand .
2. Gather equipments.
3. Put on disposable gloves and a protective mask.
4. Fill the nebulizer chamber using a syringe with
   medication.
5. Position the child and place the interface .

The Procedure

1. Turn on the compressor and use for the prescribed
   a mount of time.
2. Carefully monitor the childs vital signs for
   adverse signs of reaction .
3. When finished the treatment , remove the mask
   from the child and turn of the compressor.
4. Assist the child to rinse the mouth with water .

1. Return child to safe position in bed, with side
   rails up.
2. Remove used equipments.
3. Wash hand.
4. Write documentation accurately .
