Dear Learner Welcome to our Driving School and we
wish you all the best and our Instructors will do
everything possible to ensure that you are ready
for the day you have booked your test. Please
just remember, it is really all up to you The
Learner
2Should you have any problems with any of our
Instructors, please do not hesitate to contact
our Office immediately.
- Each student must hand Instructor a copy of
Identity Document for our records and have a
valid learners licence, which must be produced
on day of first lesson. Thereafter the learners
must have the learners with her or him on each
lesson. - The Instructor has the right to cancel or change
the date of driving should the weather conditions
render hazardous. - In the event of an accident neither A-Days
Driving School nor their Instructors can or will
be held liable for any injuries and or medical
expenses incurred by the learner or damage to the
learners vehicle, or to any third party. - All Lessons are paid on the said day of lesson in
cash or cheque if prior arrangements are made
with the Instructor on booking date. - Cancellation of appointments with an Instructors
must be made 24 Hours in advance or you the
Learner will still be held liable for that Hourly
payment.
3Some Reminders
- Pre-Trip Inspection
- Look under vehicles for any obstructions or oil
leaks. - Open drivers door, (door opens) unwind window
slightly. (window winder working) - Go to Side Mirror, mirror must be secure and not
damaged. - Check windscreen for any cracks and must be
clean. - Lift your windscreen wipers, check the blades
that they are not damaged. - Check Right Front tyre, (pressure, sidewall for
damages plus tread fine plus all 4 bolts secure) - Front of vehicle, lights are not damaged, number
plate is secure, bumper secure? Bonnet is closed?
Oil, water, break fluid fan belt have been
checked. - Front Left Tyre check same as 1st. .Windscreen
not cracked and clean, licence valid, side mirror
not damaged plus wiper blades not damaged. - Back Left Tyre check same as 1st, passenger door
same as 1st, back door same as 1s. - Number plate secure, bumper secure and light are
not damaged. Boot is closed. Inside boot spare
wheel jack and spanner. - Back Right Tyre same as 1st.
- Petrol cap is secure,
- Back passenger doors same as 1st..
- Get into vehicle.
- Switch key on so ignition lights are on.
- All Warning Light Are In Working Order.
- Handbrake is up.
- Vehicle in neutral.
4THEN EXAMINER WILL THEN CHECK WITH YOU THE
Indicators, Lights, Wipers, Hooter Brake Lights
At The Back Reverse Lights.
- GENERAL INFORMATION THINGS DO BE DONE IN
YARD - ALLEY DOCKING
- This will be done from both left and right side.
(Reverse Parking) - Allowed ONLY 2 chances on day of Test.
- PARRALELL PARKING
- Same as above will be done from both sides and
also ONLY 2 chances. - THREE POINT TURN
- Turn in the road. (U-Turn) ONLY 1 chance to get
this right. - THE HILL START
- Avoid rolling back as this is an immediate fail,
No chances here.
5SEQUENCES IN YARD
- 1. Handbrake 2. Neutral
- 3. Check Rear View Mirror, Side Mirror 4.
Signal - Blind Spot To The Side You Are Moving To
- 5. Gear 6. Clutch Control
- 7. Observation All Mirrors Blind Spot 8.
Release Handbrake / Car Moving - 9. Check Opposite Mirrors Blind Spot 10.Turn
Into Bay - 11.Stop 12.Handbrake
- 13.Neutral
- You have to do this every time you move in the
yard. When you doing parallel parking you are
required to do an observation with your 2nd 3rd
movement in the bay and also when reversing give
yourself room t get out the bay. An observation
must be done before moving. Each time you stop
you must engage your handbrake to prevent any
uncontrolled movement which will make you fail.
(roll back).
6MOVING OFF THE HILL
- OVERTAKING
- Overtaking a moving vehicle is the same as doing
a lane change. - When passing a parked Car you must check mirror,
blind spot - Indicate, mirror blind spot again, then same
procedure going back to your lane.
- Handbrake
- Neutral
- Observe
- Gear
- Clutch Control
- Observe
- Release Handbrake
REMEMBER THE LEFT CENTRE LANE IS FOR SLOW
TRAFFIC EMERGENCY STOP This must be done as
quickly and over the shortest distance without
the wheels skidding and both hands must be on
steering until the car is stationery. Handbrake
on and vehicle in Neutral.
7ROAD TEST SEQUENCES
- Moving Off
- Select Gear
- Obtain Clutch Control
- Observe Release Handbrake
- TURNING
- Check Mirror Blind spot
- Signal
- Check Centre Mirror
- Apply Brake
- Select Appropriate Gear
- Check Mirrors blind spot
- Turn
- Accelerate
LANE CHANGING Check appropr mirrors blind
spots Check Mirrors blind spot
Again Signal Move Into The Lane Once You Are
In The Lane, Cancel The Signal You May Only Do
One Lane Change At a Time.
TRAVELING STRAIGHT (SIDE ROADS) Select correct
lane, (Road Marking), Check Mirror Centre, when
approaching check right left for any traffic
coming out of side streets. Travelling straight
on all roads, Mirrors must be checked every 5-8
seconds. Check following distance and watch your
speed.
FREEWAYS ENTERING A FREEWAY IS THE SAME SEQ AS
LANE CHANGE Exit freeway Mirrors, blind spot,
signal, observe, move off freeway, cancel signal.
Passing an off ramp check mirrors, blind spot to
the right for any car cutting from the lane in
front of you onto the off ramp. When passing an
on-ramp check mirrors, blind spot to the left.
