What is a Keloid?
  • Keloids are overgrowths of fibrous tissue or
scars that can occur after an injury to the skin.
These heavy scars are also called hypertrophic
scars. In individuals prone to keloids, even
minor traumas to the skin, such as ear piercing,
can cause keloids. The word "keloid" itself comes
from the Greek word for a crab's claw it was
first used by a French physician to describe the
way that keloids grow sideways into normal skin.

Problem
  • There is a pressure earring out called The
Delasscothat is designed to keep keloid
    reoccurrence down.
  • The main problem is that it does not work like
the way the designers say it does and doctors do
not prescribe it to their patients anymore.

7
Plan
  • To design a pressure earring through rapid
prototyping that will better suit the patients
    needs after keloid removal.

8
What is Rapid Prototyping?
  • The creation of a working model of a software
module to demonstrate the feasibility of the
function. The prototype is later refined for
    inclusion in a final product.

Procedures
  • Design CATIA file
  • Build product through rapid prototyping
  • Examine prior research
  • Formulate questionnaire
  • Contact participants
  • Send participants questionnaire
  • Form House of Quality chart
  • Receive results and insert results in chart
  • Make conclusion based off results

13
What is Quality Function Deployment?
  • Quality Function Deployment is also known as QFD.
Which is a method to transform user demands into
design quality, to arrange in a position of the
functions forming quality, and to arrange methods
for achieving the design quality into subsystems
and component parts, and ultimately to specify
    elements of the manufacturing process.

14
What is House of Quality?
  • Voice of the customer
  • Product Features
  • Competitive Analysis
  • Correlations
  • Technical Evaluation
  • Trade-offs

15
Questionnaire
  • Is attractiveness important?
  • Is weight important?
  • Is comfort important?
  • Is maintaining the pressure on the ear important?
  • Is cost important?
  • Is easy assembly important?
  • Is durability important?
  • If there is anything that we have not mentioned
that you find important? Please write it in and
    rate it.

Conclusion
  • The finished product is more suitable for the
    customers needs than Delassco earring.
  • The plans for the earring is, if it suitable and
marketable for the society, we plan to sell our
product worldwide to help the needs of people
    that need this treatment.
