Renewable Energy Rebates
  • Photovoltaic Rebate Program (PVRP)
  • Federal government program
  • Solar PV only
  • 8 / Watt (maximum 8000)
  • Equipment must be new
  • Not eligible if you get RRPGP

10
Renewable Energy Rebates
  • Renewable Remote Power Generation Program (RRPGP)
  • Federal government program
  • All renewables
  • Must be off-grid (more than 1km or 30,000)
  • Up to 50
  • Generation equipment batteries, inverter, etc.

11
What are Feed-in Tariffs?
  • Higher rate paid for electricity fed into grid
  • Designated source of generation, typically
    renewable energy
  • Reduces payback to desirable levels
  • Rewards micro-generation for true value
  • Recognises benefits of technology

12
Where are Feed-in Tariffs?
  • Over 40 countries internationally
  • First in the USA in 1978
  • Denmark, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Greece,
India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Latvia, Slovenia, The
    Netherlands, Brazil, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Cyprus
    and China
  • South Australia, Qld, ACT Victoria?

13
Design of a FiT
  • Mandated at 60 cents per kWh
  • Offered for 15 years
  • Gross production metering
  • 5 degression rate

14
Whats happening in Aust
  • SA and Qld scheme
  • 44c for 20 years on excess electricity
  • Useless
  • ACT proposes a scheme
  • 3.88 X retail for 20 years on gross generation
  • Vic has introduced Stage 1
  • Retailers to publish fair and reasonable price,
    terms and conditions
  • Stage 2 in the pipeline
