Introduction to Hats Galore
  • This Short Report- Hats Galore is a power point
    about you guessed it hats!
  • I have chosen various hats that I found
    interesting.
  • I hope that you enjoy Hats Galore!

3
Cloche
  • The cloche hat, which was popular in the 1920s,
covered the whole head and ears quite tightly,
making it nearly impossible to wear your hair
long.Today there are several hats that are
    similar to the cloche.

4
Straw Boater
  • Worn originally by men for river boating and at
the waters edge, it was later adapted by young
women from anything to casual wear to church
wear.Straw Boaters are not in style currently.

5
Riding Bowler
  • Riding Bowlers have a ring on the rim to attach a
cord to a coat or some other article of clothing,
so the hat would refrain from falling off when in
full gallop. Some riders may use these hats today.

6
Ball Cap
  • First worn by the New York Knickerbockers, ball
caps were originally made out of straw. They are
now made of fabric and there is a cap to suit
    almost every one.

7
Collapsible Opera
  • This hat was made up of a collapsible steel frame
with black silk stretched over it. This was so
the wearer could fold it and set it under his
seat at the theatre or the opera. The Collapsible
Opera is worn rarely at the present.

8
The Steeple
  • Also Know as the hennin or steeple headdresses
were very popular in France. The most spectacular
of them all was the butterfly, which was
created by using a wire structure which held up a
veil in the shape of butterflys wings.

9
Newsboy Cap
  • Newsboy caps was a soft fabric cap worn by boys,
men and Newsboys in the earlier part of the last
century. The were adapted for women's wear in the
1980s. These are currently in style for both men
    and women of all ages.

10
Poke Bonnet

  • Poke Bonnets were hood-shaped hats tied
underneath the chin, they had very small crowns
at the back an extremely large brims in the front
for shade. Fashionable at the beginning of the
19th century, they were worn by women and
children of all ages. The size of the brim
increased until, the 1830s, when you could only
see the wearer's face if you stood right in front
    of them.
