What is Business Aviation?
  • Business Aviation is that sector of aviation
which concerns the operation or use of aircraft
by companies for the carriage of passengers and
goods as an aid to the conduct of their business,
flown for purposes generally considered not for
public hire and piloted by individuals having at
the minimum a valid commercial pilot licence with
    an instrument rating.

What Business Aviation Does
  • Business aviation is an effective transportation
resource and an integral part of the air
    transportation system.
  • Business aviation is an important business tool
for companies in todays business environment.

7
Value of Corporate Aviation 1
Business Aircraft as a corporate perk has been
replaced by Business Aircraft as a productivity
enhancer. The corporate jet earns its keep as a
business tool that serves the firms strategic
objectives and responds as necessary to tactical
missions, all within the demanding role of fiscal
responsibility. NBAABusiness AviationManagement

UK Government Study on Value of Business Aviation
BusAv uses - or needs to use - airports in
the UK in competition for suitable landing and
take-off slots with other airport users For
the future, the on-going globalisation of
business ...... and the continuing success of the
UK in attracting inward investment are likely to
boost demand for BusAv Aviation facilities
are the third most important factor influencing
inward investment decisions .................
with evidence to support the importance of BusAv
in a number of instances ....................
... business aviation facilities have a part to
play in helping to promote bi-lateral trade
............insufficient capacity .... for
business aviation use in the South-east will
................... have a potential adverse
impact upon local economies and national
competitiveness (Business Aviation - DTp
Dti Report Oct 95)
10
Key Reasons for European Business Aviations
Growth
  • A partner with scheduled airlines, not a
    substitute
  • Even at large airports, can operate in the
margins of capacity within dynamic variation in
    scheduled movements
  • Business Aviation reaches more locations
  • Ten times the locations served by scheduled
    airlines
  • One hundred times the locations with convenient
    schedules
  • Use of airfields by BusAv is NOT a pre-cursor to
    airline use
  • BusAv uses airfields unsuitable for airline use
  • BusAv is a good neighbour

11
Best In Class Operational and Safety Standards
  • Public Transport Flights (On Demand Charter)
  • Regulated in Europe to JAROPS 1 Standards (same
    as the airlines)
  • Corporate Aviation (Non-Commercial) operate to
    best in class standards
  • Many Companies use Safety Management Systems
  • High standards and safety take precedence over
    cost
  • Modern Business jets have more advanced safety
    technology and capabilities than commercial
    airliners
  • Industry standards set and audited to ensure
    delivery of best practice
  • IS-BAO Standards and Registration on ISO
    Principles
  • Excellent Safety Record

Think Green
  • BusAv supports the Governments think green
    initiative
  • BusAv are good neighbours
  • Quieter than scheduled large aircraft.
  • Cleaner and quieter than an HGV with far fewer
    movements
  • Bizjet 65dBa _at_ 450 metres
  • HGV 90dBa _at_ 5 metres
  • Airfields remain green field sites (e.g.
    Northolt).
  • Keen to work with the local communities in
    reaching mutually acceptable compromises
  • lt2 of aviation emissions / A few hundredth of 1
    of overall emissions
  • BusAv supports the polluter pays principle with
corresponding incentives for the clean and
    quiet.
