    graduation session of Cohort 9 in Mexico.
  • Cohort 9 made its final presentations of LAPs at
    its fifth National Training Session in Quetta in
    July.
  • Cohort 10 presented its LAPs project proposals at
    the OTS.

  • 2003
  • LEAD Pakistan became the first non-profit
    organization to be an ISO 9001 certified
    institution.
  • Associates of C10 as part of their mandatory
    voluntary work provided technical assistance to a
    CBO in Mardan, Integrated Rural Support Program
    (IRSP).
  • A monthly electronic newsletter Making the
    Differencewas launched to strengthen ties among
    LEAD family. It features the major activities of
    LEAD Pakistan, Fellows, and Associates.
  • ACM-3 coincided with a grand stakeholder dialogue
    to fill the action gaps in Forging Partnerships
    for Sustainable Development The Road From
    Johannesburg Water, Energy, Health, Agriculture,
    Biodiversity (WEHAB).
  • LEAD Pakistan also qualified Certification by
    Pakistan Center for Philanthropy PCP.

  • 2004
  • Cohort 11 was advertised in the leading
    publications and the LEAD Fellows conducted the
    open houses in all the major as well as some
    remote cities
  • LEAD Pakistan initiated DEMO with the support of
    United States Agency for International
    Development (USAID) under its Education Sector
    Reform Assistance (ESRA) project.
  • A comprehensive training module was offered in
    Islamabad in September/October that was attended
    by 16 IDRC partner organizations from various
    cities.
  • LEAD Pakistan designed and delivered an
    Induction Program for DTCE. This training was
    delivered by the LEAD staff as well as the
    Fellows from C-8 4
  • Education Sector Reform Assistance (ESRA) engaged
    LEAD Pakistan to develop a District Education
    Development Plan for Killa Saifullah, Balochistan
  • Strategic visioning of LEAD for

What are LAPs?
  • LAPs are individual initiatives that
  • One-year guided project on topics based on Local
    Agenda 21
  • Promote agenda of change at community or national
    level
  • Seek consensus amongst stakeholders
  • Attempt to give back to community
  • Six modules are taught during the national
    training sessions, including one
  • As mentioned earlier, LEAD Associates complete a
    project, known as the LEAD Associate Project
    (LAP), as part of their training. The LAP
    concerns the Associates expertise or
    professional field and is conducted as a small
    contribution by the Associate for sustainable
    development in the country. The project also
    tests the Associates ability to confront the
    obstacles s/he is to meet in real life in efforts
    to promote sustainable development, and provides
    a guided transition from the encouraging
    environment of the LEAD program to the practical
    world of development challenges.
  • The projects are designed and implemented with
    financial assistance as well as technical counsel
    from supervisors at LEAD Pakistan.
