Title: DRAGUSAFE POUCH

1
DRAG-U-SAFE POUCH
  • Kept on BLUE (RIT-AIR) Bag.

2
OBJECTIVES
  • Overview and characteristics of the Drag-u-safe
    pouch.
  • Care and maintenance.
  • Different practical uses of pouch when doing
    R.I.T., searches, etc.

3
DRAG-U-SAFE POUCH
  • A 7 long piece of 1tubular webbing, rated at
6,000 lbs (webbing, not stitching), kept in a 3
X 3 canvas pouch. The pouch is secured to the
    airpack by snaps.
  • Straps and bags are labeled RIT and should remain
    on their assigned bag.
  • Is not designed for descending (window bails
etc.), however this has been done in drills and
will hold a substantial amount of weight if
    needed.

4
PLACEMENT AND CHECK
  • Will be located on the BLUE (RIT-AIR) Bag, on
black buckle that holds facepiece/regulator/5 ft.
    UAC hose flap closed.
  • Needs to be checked daily-as part of your
equipment checkout (no need to take case off, but
strap shall be checked to ensure it will properly
    deploy.)
  • Ensure bag is snapped between loop.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
  • Should be cleaned periodically or when excessive
dirt buildup is noticed. (treat like rope and
    webbing)
  • Can be cleaned with mild detergent in washing
    machine and hung to dry.

8
USES
  • Many uses, not limited to what we pass on today,
train with it and you will find even more ways!
  • An advantage with this strap as compared to just
a piece of webbing, is that the length allows the
Firefighter to use their legs, with handles at
    an average height.
  • Three primary drags SCBA drag, leg drag, and
    torso drag.
  • SCBA drag Strap will go through both SCBA
harness straps, grab loops and pull with legs!
    (if possible)

9
USES
SCBA Drag Loop through SCBA straps as shown
10
USES
  • LEG DRAG apply around lower leg/ankle area and
put one loop through the other and pull (making a
girth hitch). Can pull out of small spaces so
    proper drag can be made.

11
Torso Drag
  • Pull webbing around torso/back of person, then up
each armpit to make the drag (similar to SCBA
drag, except this would be used for a civilian).

12
If needed, can wrap webbing around wrist to
shorten.
Allows you to use legs, with handles at an
average height for the firefighter.
13
USES
  • Very helpful tool for searching.
  • Can use the metal, welded rings on the canvas
bags with a carabiner to attach the strap so a
    search can be made (tethered).
  • A firefighter can hold one loop, while another
firefighter holds the other loop creating a very
    wide search path.
  • Limited only by your imagination.

14
CONCLUSION
  • Not limited to what we have taught today, train
    and find other ways.
  • Make sure to check pouches daily.
  • Practicals.
