Title: Two Point Perspective

Yr 7 Graphics
Objective By the end of today's lesson you will
be able to draw a 3D form in two point
perspective.
What will we be doing today? All students will
be able to identify horizon line, vanishing
points and the leading edge.   Most students will
be able to produce drawing below, through and
above the line.   Some students will attempt to
draw a more complex shape using the drawing
system.
Homework Using the workbook as a guide, draw
an additional 3D form using two
point perspective.

Creating a drawing with two vanishing points
  • The cube opposite is drawn with two vanishing
points and as a result the sides look as if they
are slowly fading away into the distance. Two
vanishing points gives this 'feel' to a drawing.

5
Stage 1
Yr 7 Graphics
  • Draw the horizon line then mark two vanishing
points on the horizon as far apart as possible.
Then draw one edge of the cube beneath the
horizon line and in the centre between the
    vanishing points.

6
Stage 2
Yr 7 Graphics
  • Draw construction lines from the top bottom of
the edge of the cube to the vanishing points

7
Stage 3
Yr 7 Graphics
  • Draw the right side edge and left side edge of
the cube so that two sides of the cube are
    parallel to the first edge

8
Stage 4
Yr 7 Graphics
  • Draw faint construction lines from the ends of
these lines to either vanishing point.

9
Stage 5
Yr 7 Graphics
  • Use a fine black pen to draw over the outline of
    the cube.

Experimenting with the Horizon Line
  • On a separate sheet of paper experiment moving
the horizon line. Construct cubes through the
horizon line and below the horizon line.
