Title: Axillary Lymph Nodes

1
  • Axillary Lymph Nodes
  • Apical - in the apex of the axilla, located along
the medial side of the axillary vein and 1st part
of the axillary artery. They receive lymph from
all other groups of axillary lymph nodes, as well
as from lymph vessels accompanying the cephalic
vein. Vessels from the axillary nodes unite to
form the subclavian lymphatic trunk, which drains
    into the right lymphatic duct.
  • Pectoral - 3-5 nodes which lie along the medial
wall of the axilla, near the inf border of pec
minor, receives lymph from the anterior thoracic
    wall including the breast.
  • Subscapular - 6 or 7 lymph nodes, lie along the
post axillary fold and subscapular blood vessels,
receive lymph from the post thoracic wall and
    scapula region.
  • Humeral - 4-6 nodes, lat wall of the axilla,
medial and posterior to the axillary vein.
Receive almost all the lymph of the upper limb.
  • Central - 3-4 large lymph nodes, deep to pec
minor, near the base of the axilla, receives
lymph from the pectoral, subscapular, and humeral
nodes, then drain into the apical group.
