Functions

• Spotlight- Used for lighting a single person and
  for tracking that person or persons.
• Dimmers- When using this light it is important to
  know the size of the stage and the amount of
  lights available.

• Light Panel- With this tool the operator can do a
  numerous amount of things including bringing up
  different dimmers to a selected level.
• Cable- Heavily insulated wire for joining
  instrument to electrical outlets or to a
  switchboard.
• Connector- Stage cables and conductors are
  essential to the safe conduction of electricity.

• Ellipsoidal Reflector Light- For front lighting
  one pair of 500-1,000 watts each if needed every
  eight to ten feet of stage.
• Floodlight- Floodlights are used for special
  effects such as sunlight and moonlight.
• Fresnel- These are mounted on pipes just behind
  the grand drape and upstage.

• Strip lights- Three to four of each are required
  for general stage use and scenic color blend.
• Roundels and Gelatin- Used to add a certain color
  to an area for a short period of time.

• Key light- Strongest light used to light up
  acting area
• Fill light- This light is used to fill up dark
  shadows in the acting area
• Side lighting- Light used to show actors
  features and to high light the costumes

• Back light- Light is shown from above to help
  set the performer from off the stage
• Scrim- Used to create striking scenic light
  combinations
• Light plot- Used to show location of the specific
  lighting instrument and the area it occupies.
