What is mobile working?
Mobile working in local government means
  • delivering services in the field in peoples
homes, places of work, public open spaces or
    other convenient locations
  • taking services to the customer, rather than
the customer having to visit the council offices
    to access services

The ability to do everything that you would
normally do in the office except you are not in
the office!
Productivity on the move.

Mobile User Opinions
  • Flexibility of time and Flexibility of place.
Allows me to work wherever I am and out of usual
    office hours Social Services Team
  • I went out on district to survey where our dog
faeces receptacles are. Usually this involves
carrying a large number of paper maps etc.
However using the mobile device and accessing
source map I was able to update the records with
exact locations. This would normally have taken a
day to do but was completed within 2 hours-

16
User Opinions
The major advantage would appear that the device
is allowing more visits to be carried out, and
still allowing the essential contact with the
office through e-mail and Flare Environmental
Health Officer As the greatest PC sceptic in
the office, I can only tell you that this
Convertible Laptop is fantastic. It saves me so
much time by removing the re-keying of the
assessment No way am I ever going to give this
machine back !! Social Services Team
