  • After the Surgery

15
What Has Happened to Doug Since His Surgery
  • Doug is healthy and trying to live a normal life.
  • Unfortunately, all is not well for him.
  • Both he and his wife are unemployed
  • Medical bills are running high
  • Insurance covers only 500 of the monthly 3,000
    expenses
  • He is over 300,000 in debt

16
What Has Happened to Doug Since His Surgery
  • There still may be hope for Doug.
  • His former team has raised at least 40,000 to
    help him w/expenses
  • His son has a good chance of making the NFL
  • He may be able to sign a 1 million signing bonus
  • This would wipe out Dougs debts

17
How close was Doug To Not Receiving His Heart In
Time?
  • The biggest reason why he almost didnt make it
was because the ambulance with his heart crossed
the GW Bridge 3 minutes before it closed.
  • However, there were other factors also.
  • Heart could have been held up at Logan.
  • Traffic tie up
  • Planes crashing a few minutes earlier or
    simultaneously
