• Whole Report
• Display 12 letters in 3 rows of 4
• Report all 12
• Partial Report
• Display 12 letters in 3 rows of 4
• Signal report of only 1 row
• Present signal after display is turned off
• If to-be-reported row is not known before the
  cue, then it is a random sample of the contents
  of consciousness

Sperlings Results

• With immediate cue, partial report yields
  accuracy of over 90
• With increasing delay of cue, partial report
  yields lower accuracy
• At delay of several seconds, partial report
  equals whole report (4-7 items)
