6Feedback from NOC Students
The one-year NCBV program was AWESOME in various
ways. The internship experience in high-tech
startup company has been precious to inspire my
entrepreneur spirit. I take it as
a once-in-life opportunity through which I lived
my life to fullness. Cao Yuan, Engineering,
placed with Boomi, Inc Bosses in most of the
Bio Valley companiesare very approachable and

knowledge. Foo Hui Fen, Major in

7STUDENTS FROM NUS OVERSEAS COLLEGES
WINNING BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITIONS -
Interestingly, the two final-year students from
NUS met and conceived the winning proposal not in
Singapore, but in Philadelphia. They were
roommates while on the NUS Overseas Colleges
work-study project.
8WINNING BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITIONS - The plan
started out as a class project for a
technopreneurship course at Wharton, which the
trio attended last year as part of the NUS
College Bio Valley programme.
9STARTING COMPANIES - Four students, after
overseas stints, have started global high-tech
ventures
STARTING COMPANIES - All four young peoples
entrepreneurial involvement did not happen by
chance. It is the result of a three-year-old
programme at the National University of Singapore
(NUS) to grow businessmen.

Feng, NCSV student, co-inventor of more than 10
patents (to date), took a 6-month study leave to
work in SV with full salary of an Engineer
Vahid Saadat, Co-Founder and President of USGI
Medical, Inc. said "Ruey Feng's feat of being a
co-inventor of 6 US patents in a very short time
frame is truly remarkable. His excellent
performance in USGI is a clear reflection of the
capabilities of students from Singapore and the
NUS Overseas Colleges programme. Judging from the
rate Ruey is going, I am sure this young man will
have a bright future if he were to embark on an
entrepreneurial career!"

After my visit to the NUS College in Silicon
Valley, there is no doubt in my mind that the NUS
Overseas Colleges will be very successful in
enriching the education of NUS students here,
exposing them to a new culture and a new way of
work. Many students remark that the programme is
a life-transforming experience. NUS Overseas
Colleges has been very inspiring and I hope that
for many more years to come, more NUS students
will apply for this programme.
