Trip to Mexico City and the Yucatan

Day 1
  • We took off from Minneapolis and arrived in
    Mexico City. We arrived we were met by our tour
    director Julio Franco.

Day 1
  • After we arrived, we went with our tour director
    and checked into the hotel Fiestamexico, where we
    would be spending the night.

Day 1
  • After we checked in we went to the fancy downtown
    site, Paseo de la Reforma. The Paseo de la
    Reforma is a extraordinary place in Mexico city.
    Along its central extension stand find examples
    of architecture, many banks and offices,
    fashionable venues, embassies, luxury hotels, and
    exclusive art galleries

Day 1
  • As we were walking through the Paseo de la
    Reforma we stopped and looked at the Christopher
    Columbus monument. Christopher Columbus is
    consider to be a national hero for the Mexican
    country because he founder their country and lead
    people there. After the we went to our hotel and
    went to bed for the night.

Day 2
  • The next morning we woke early and went to visit
    the Aztec Empire. This group of people attained a
    high degree of engineering, architecture, art,
    and mathematics. They had a large and strong army
    and believed in many Gods.

  • Next we strolled across the massive tenochtitlan
    temple and where the Montezuma had once stood.
    After that we went to eh National Palace where
    there would be bull fighting. Bull fighting is a
    tradition that had been going for a very long
    time in Mexico.

Day 2
  • Later on we visited Diego Riveras murals. These
    painting told of all the history that Mexico had
    gone through. Next we went to Chapultepec
    Park.Chapultepec Park is a place where an old
    fashion forest is. There is a castle in the
    middle of the forests and is home to a very big
    museum.

Day 2
  • At the museum we viewed the Aztec calendar stone
    and visit Tialoc, the god of the rain. This is a
    picture of our favorite site we saw at the
    museum. After we got done with the museum we went
    to the hotel and went to sleep for the night.

Day 3
  • When we woke up we went and visited the Shrine of
    Our Lady of Guadalupe. This shrine is dedicated
    for a Lady of Heaven. She supposedly appeared
    to a poor man named Diego and him to have the
    bishop build a temple and then left an image of
    herself on the stone. Diego is no a hero in
    Mexico and is greatly recognized.

Day 3
  • Next we went to the Teotihuacan pyramids. This is
    a mysterious place in Mexico. Here are were many
    people live and it is considered to be the city
    of the gods. People believe that this city was
    once inhabited by god and some believe it still
    is. After we got done here we decided to skip the
    optional Ballet Folklorico Evening because we
    were so tired and worn out.

Day 4
  • We got up early the next morning and took off in
    an airplane for the city of Merida, once the
    ancient Mayan capital of Tho. Merida is know as
    the white city for its clean streets, houses and
    people, and it is an obligatory starting and
    finishing point for those visiting the state of
    Yucatan.

Day 4
  • We decided to make a jungle expedition to the
    Mayan city of Uxmal. This was a beautiful site
    and was to pyramids, and the Governors Palace.
    The Governor's Palace is open to the public and
    has balconies overlooking the city. It is a
    beautiful place just to relax and enjoy yourself.
    That night we relaxed and enjoyed a sound and
    laser light show

Day 5
  • The next day when we woke up we up early and
    spend the day at beautiful Progreso Beach except
    today we had to be evacuated from there because
    of a danger of a hurricane that was fast
    approaching, so today was a resting day for us to
    catch up with some sleep.

Day 6
  • We woke up the next morning and found out that
    the hurricane had just missed us. We then went to
    Chichen Itza. Chichen Itza is one of the most
    impressive pyramids in all of Mexico.

Day 6
  • Next we went to the huge pyramid. Its located at
    Chichen Itza. Its design relates to the Mayan
    calendar. It has 365 steps and 52 panels. Its
    panels represent the number of years it takes for
    a calendar round date to occur.

Day 7
  • Next we stopped at Cenote X-keken a lake with
    luminous turquoise water that is beautiful. It is
    a underground lake filled with catfish. It was a
    sacrifical place. To finish the day off we
    arrived in Cancun, the high point of our trip.

Day 8-10
  • When we were at Cancun we had a relaxing stay.
    While we where there we swam and scuba dove.

Day 11
  • We flew back home and enjoyed our stay but were
    very worn out.
