What did he do?
  • 1st emperor to become Christian
  • Regarded as a saint in Eastern Orthodox Church
  • Christians were able to worship freely and their
    church was legal.
  • Attacked his major rival in the western part of
    Rome and later told how he had a vision that if
    he fought under the cross he would win.
  • He built the first Christian cathedral, The
    Catern Basilica in Rome

  • Born February 27th, 285 A.D.
  • Born in Naissus (Modern day Serbia)
  • Died May 22nd 337 A.D. of an illness
  • His rule lasted from 306 A.D. until death
  • Rebuilt Byzantiun, renamed it Constantinople,
    made it his capital.
  • Maxentius was his major rival he was the emperor
    of the west
