7Portland Job Vacancy Survey April 2007
- 19,325 job vacancies in the Portland area
(Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties)
in April of this year. - Almost one-third of job vacancies had been
unfilled for two months or longer. - The health care and manufacturing industries had
the most job vacancies. Combined, these two
industries represented one-third of all Portland
area vacancies. - Seventy percent of all health care industry
vacancies require education beyond high school
and 62 percent require a license or certificate.
These higher-than-typical educational
requirements add to the difficulty in filling
this industrys vacancies. - Of the vacancies with wage information,
one-in-four paid a wage of at least 20 an hour,
while one-in-four paid less than 10 an hour.
