Title: Seeing the Sights
1Seeing the Sights
- Town of North Canaan, Connecticut
2This village post office has been here since
1949. The first one was built down the road in
the 1800s. There are 385 boxes. Some people have
their mail delivered to their houses.
3This is one of the farms near my house. The cows
give us milk to drink. They also make cheese out
of the milk. My friend Bobby lives on this farm
and helps milk the cows.
4This is a maple syrup house. Sap from maple trees
in the spring is collected and then boiled into
syrup. I love maple syrup on pancakes and oatmeal
for breakfast.
5This fire station was built in 1929. The fireman
put out fires and help keep our town safe. The
fireman do not get paid, they are volunteers. I
like to go to the parades to see the fire trucks.
6This is called the Beckley Furnace. Parts of the
buildings are now gone. It was built in 1799.
Iron Ore was made here and at others in the area
along the Blackberry River. It is a visitor
place now.
7Canaan is located about here.
