- GROUPTHINK
- A group can exert enormous pressures on its
members to adhere to its norms and beliefs in
extreme cases, these pressures produce groupthink
or polarization of attitudes to risk which amount
to distortion of judgment.

- For a group to function effectively and smoothly
there has to be a certain amount of agreement on
how to do things on the other hand, it is
important for the group to adapt to changing
conditions, and change is brought about by

- COOPERATION VS. COMPETITION
- Competitive behavior is directed an individuals
own goals, often at the expense of shared goals.
It is secretive and unpredictable is defensive
toward others. - Cooperative behavior is directed towards shared
goals. It contributes information and expertise
openly, is predictable, though not inflexible,
avoids threats and is supportive towards others.

- A shortage of good ideas points to the need for
recruiting better personnel to the group, for
increasing the rewards for creativity or for
eliminating the penalties especially the social
penalties for expressing ideas freely.

- If the group has difficulty making decisions,
reduce the perceived risks to making mistakes. - Increase the perceived risk of making no
