Mrs. Dunlaps Goals

• Prepare students to take advanced placement
  calculus by developing a solid foundation in the
  study of functions, trigonometry, and data
  analysis
• Develop an appreciation for mathematics
• Learn to understand whether answers are
  reasonable and to estimate solutions
• Support answers in multiple ways graphically,
  algebraically, and numerically
• Constantly challenge students to use their higher
  ordered thinking skills

• Master the family of functions including
  quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, logistic,
  polynomial, power, and rational functions through
  modeling and data analysis
• Conic Sections circle, parabola, ellipse,
  hyperbola
• Vectors, Parametric Equations, and Polar
  Equations
• Probability and Statistics
• Right Triangle and Circular Trigonometry
• Introduction to calculus topics including limits
  and derivatives

SAT Preparation

• Double block periods
• Practice Tests available through school resources
  or on the Internet
• Emphasis on Geometry and how it connects to
  algebra and precalculus

Grading Policies

• Tests (50)
• 2 or 3 tests per quarter
• Quizzes (40)
• Approx. 1 per week
• One quiz grade will be a participation grade
• Homework / In-Class Activities (10)
• Graded on a random basis based upon effort and
  /or accuracy
• Often times, in-class problems and/or activities
  are graded in this category.
