1Galvanic Cells
In a galvanic cell, a spontaneous chemical
reaction is used to prouce electrical energy. The
current produced is measured in volts by a
voltmeter.
One compartment of the cell contains the anode
where oxidation (loss of electrons) of the
reducing agent occurs. The other contains the
cathode where reduction (gain of electrons) of
the oxidizing agent occurs.
