- How is green chemistry inserted? Box(es) at the
beginning, middle or end of the chapter? Is it
infused within the chapter as part of the regular
text? Are there green chemistry problems?
Other? Please describe the nature of the green
chemistry.

23Reviewers Comments
- The inclusion of green chemistry is the single
most important improvement of the book. - I consider green chemistry a critical topic and I
have found it necessary to supplement the text.
The addition is welcome by me and seems
appropriate. - Green chemistry is great to add, especially when
it shows significant advances to be made by
science in this area. - The green chemistry adds greatly to the text.
- I enthusiastically approve of the green chemistry
sections and plan to use them all. - I think the information regarding the green
chemistry topics is fantastic! I think this is a
wonderful opportunity to bring in this field. - I think it was a great addition I like it in
this format. Yes! I love the inclusion of this
subject matter! - This certainly spices up the chapter.
- The green case is quite interesting. I did not
know this before. - I think these are crucial in illustrating the
positive steps chemists are taking to address
environmental issues. - I really like the integration of green chemistry
topics in the chapters. I believe that this is
vital information for students to learn and I am
very happy about the inclusion.
24The Chemistry Enterprise in 2015A Report of the
ACS 2005
- By 2015, the chemistry enterprise will be judged
under a new paradigm of sustainability.
Sustainable operations will become both
economically and ethically essential. - Conclusion Green Chemistry is ESSENTIAL!

25What Can YOU Do?!
- Ask book reps, textbook authors and publishers
is there green chemistry in your book? Be
reluctant to use it if there isnt - Suggests ways to authors in which green chemistry
can be infused into a particular book - Get together a group to discuss who will go
after which texts/authors/publishers - Develop teams to infuse green chemistry
- Publish a list of texts that have infused green
chemistry at GCI??? Website rate books and
publishers? - Incorporate green chemistry into ACS standardized
exams - ACS, EPA, NSF, NAS workshops for authors
publishers on infusion of green chemistry into
texts
261991 Green Chemistry became a formal focus of
EPA
- 15 Years is plenty of time for evolution it is
now time for revolution!
