TANDBERG Announces HD in July 2006

• In July 2006, TANDBERG announced HD across its
  entire product line
• Was not HD was 1280x720 at 7-12 fps
• Video output defaulted to VGA, not 1280x720
• HD is defined as 1280x720 at 24-60fps
• Picture was blurry, choppy
• Not the HD experience users were promised

TANDBERG Announced 30fps in HD

• In May 2007, TANDBERG announced 30fps in HD
• After 11 months of having HD they announce they
  will conform to the HD standard at 30fps
• MXP and Edge still can not encode true 720p HD
  without proprietary TANDBERG camera
• Codecs can not decode true 720p HD
• Not enough processing power shortcut with static
  macroblocks
• When calling standard-based HD systems, TANDBERG
  forces 4CIF from far side
• Codecs can not handle (decode) full dynamic image
  for true 720p HD
• Video continues to be blurry and lower frame rate
  in comparison to HDX

Does This Matter?

• Q If the video picture is better than old
  systems does it matter that they really are not
  HD?
• YES when calling other vendors, there is a high
  probability that it will NOT connect in HD
• YES customers are being told again and again
  they are getting true 30fps HD but they are not
• YES non-standard systems will not fit into a
  high definition environment or support 3rd party
  peripherals
• YES being non-standard sets the entire industry
  back and reduces the overall value and impression
  of HD video

• Buyer beware! Make sure the HD investment is
  truly HD and not a proprietary system that just
  looks better
• There are HD video conferencing vendors that
  deliver true HD, standards-based systems
• Side-by-side comparisons will prove which systems
  are truly HD
